Our Mission
The mission of the Friends of the Children Hilton Head is to increase our community’s awareness of the resources available MUSC Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Research Institute. Our purpose is accomplished through medical education, hospital referrals, outreach programs and fundraising.

Why Friends of the Children?
Friends of the Children (FOC) started 10 years ago because mothers in Hilton Head wanted the best possible care for their children. They knew that by forming an informative and compassionate network, moms in the Lowcountry could get the support and camaraderie they needed.
Featured Patient
Joshua was diagnosed with a Diaphragmatic Hernia at his 20 week ultrasound. A diaphragmatic hernia is a birth defect that occurs in one out of every 2,200 to 5,000 births. Basically Joshua’s diaphragm did not close all the way, which allowed his stomach, spleen, small intestine and part of his large intestine to move into his chest cavity where his left lung was supposed to develop.

FOC offers monthly and special events, lectures, seminars, and luncheons and maintains a quarterly newsletter so parents can keep up to date with current health news and connect with other parents and professional healthcare givers.
